Love your fountain pen?
Here’s how to maintain it new.
How to Clean
- The barrel is screwed to the nib section. Begin by unscrewing it.
- Fill the nib section with clean water and rinse it thoroughly. Repeat till the water comes clear.
- For pens with cartridge/converter, soak the nib section in water overnight. Immerse it completely under water.
- Distilled water at room temperature is the best. If unavailable, use filtered water.
- Do not use hot/cold water, or alcohol to clean the nib. They may damage the pen.
- Use a paper/microfiber towel to wipe the pen dry after cleaning.
- Clean your pen every few weeks, or before changing the ink color.
How to Use
- V’Sign Pens glide effortlessly across the paper. Do not press the nib too hard while writing.
- Ensure that the ink that goes into the barrel is fresh. Avoid using older bottled inks. Shake the ink bottle well before filling ink.
- Darker inks may have elements that may damage the nib section if allowed to dry there. Empty the pen if not in use.
- Store ink bottles in dry and dark places to avoid fading due to exposure to sunlight.
- Chemically treated papers don’t absorb inks well. While writing over them, ink may clog in the nib. Clean the nib if used over a paper that has a slick feel.
- Avoid lending your pen. The nib adapts to your usage over time.
While storing your fountain pen, empty it if it won’t be used for some time. While storing an ink-filled pen, point the nib section upwards in a vertical position to avoid the ink clogging the feed.
