Established in the Golden Era of the 60s, and writing gracefully ever since

The Founding Father

The legacy of V’sign pens dates back to 1965, and is deeply rooted in the story of its parent brand Beena set up in the memorable year. The founding father, Santramdas Motwani, an experienced and talented writing technician, with extensive knowledge of general pen manufacture, and specialization in fountain pens, realized his dream of setting up a manufacturing unit of fountain pens under the brand name Beena. It wasn’t tough for him to propagate his newfound brand through the lengths and breadths of the market as he was an experienced pen supplier having worked for premium brands.

The brand caught a dedicated fan base in a short span of time and was almost irreplaceable- all thanks to the distinguished craftsmanship of the dedicated entrepreneur Santramdas Motwani. Among writing aficionados, he was known as the man who knew the art of making no-nonsense pens. His products that technically excelled as writing instruments, were basically focused on being easy writers. Although priced competitively, they enjoyed an undying demand. Sturdy as well-balanced, they were a mechanical marvel.

To this day, Beena’s distinguished models like Magic and Lincoln are invaluable possessions among collectors. In their time, they had enjoyed a near-cult status.

The Abiding Heir

With love for fountain pens shooting from the very bottom of his heart, sustaining the business through tough times has been a challenge mightily dealt with by the heir of Beena, Hiro Motwani. With the dedication of an affectionate learner, Hiro acquired in-depth knowledge about manufacturing writing tools and the way the industry functioned. But his inning was marked by a journey through rough roads, compelling him to bring about some fundamental transformations in the brand.

Around the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, i.e., by 2010, stationery shops across India were selling a quirky product called use and throw pens. Due to its unbeatable price, it turned the equations of the writing tools market by its horns. Fountain pens especially suffered from terrible times, and Beena was on the verge of exiting the industry. As a matter of providence, Hiro Motwani, like a resilient hero, chose to continue the fight.

V’sign pens was indeed Beena shedding its skin at the turn of unprecedented events. It was the brainchild of Hiro Motwani who was determined to rouse a vibe among youth, bringing them back to fountain pens. He created a number of models that were critically acclaimed and struck a chord with buyers. The churning of fountain pens under the transformed brand continued through the adversities thrown by fate at the writing tools’ industry.

The Gen-Next

With the times getting trendier and modern, the business of V’sign pens yearned a fresh breath of enthusiasm and creativity. It came in the form of the third-generation heir of the Motwani family, Nikhil Motwani. While adapting the trends and modern appeals in the designs of V’sign pens, Nikhil never dismisses the vintage charm or the timeless functionalities of the products by the legendary brand. At the very beginning of his time with the big brand, he is prepared to launch two unique products that are all set to enter the market with a bang at price points unbelievable in the modern context.

Nikhil has crafted Beena Antic and V’sign Neo, announcing his entry into the business.
